Mobile School

The mobile schools are extendable blackboards on wheels, which come with more than 250 educational panels, working on themes such as creative therapy, reading and writing, health, hygiene and social skills.
Once a mobile school arrives in an area with street children, the blackboard slides open to create a two-sided 6-meter long educational tool, helping the street educators to interact with the children. Mobile school is active in 34 countries with 65 projects.

Music not only brings joy to my classroom but also serves as a tool for practising regular school subjects. For example, we use the drums to enhance our mathematics lessons, by calculating to the beat of the drums.

Arnoud Raskin, founder of Mobile School: "There are more than 150 million street children in the world, including in Belgium! These are 150 million unique individuals, each with their own talents that are being wasted. That is a big loss for society! We have to find a different way of looking at those children and young people. We should not simply feel sorry for them, or even worse, ignore them... We give them the feeling that they are part of society and offer them the opportunity to develop their talents. Only in this way can they escape the negative spiral of the street." Tomorrowland & Join for Joy - East Africa

The Tomorrowland Foundation teamed up with Join for Joy to bring this project to the children of East Africa.

Together, we've developed games that focus on discussing social themes through expressive arts and building essential life skills. By empowering 120 East African primary school teachers and supplying 30 schools spread around Kenya, Zambia, Malawi, and Uganda with music and art toolkits, we are reaching over 34,500 children and turning our shared vision into an inspiring reality!

Innovative education and play

Since 2010, Join for Joy has significantly impacted the lives of children in rural East Africa by transforming traditional education through the power of sports and play. By integrating playful learning methods that focus on social themes and essential life skills, the organisation has empowered over 725,000 children to discover and develop their potential. Through comprehensive training programs, Join for Joy has equipped over 900 teachers with innovative teaching techniques, ensuring sustainable change in the educational landscape. As a result, schools have reported an increase in attendance, a significant decrease in dropout rates, and a newfound joy in children who now genuinely look forward to going to school.
